New Transfer

Image
This week's we had transfer news. I will be staying in my 2 ysa wards and I will be training a new missionary.  I am so nervous! I accident fasted a whole 24 before I got my trainee because I was so scared I couldn't eat. My trainee is so amazing though! Her name is Sister Roskelley and I am just obsessed with her! She is already so confident at being a missionary and is so ready to share the gospel with people:) I also moved into a new house. It's really small and so cute. It doesn't have a stove top or an oven though which is so awesome. It does have AC in the bedroom so I am a happy camper. Tender mercy of the week is the family that owns our house are from my old ward in Hauula. God is keeping me connected to my mission routes. Alrighty I am tired of writing this email haha so I guess that is all you get this week:) I will leave you with a scripture though:) The scripture is Matthew 14:28-31 "28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come ...

The Missionary Life

Image
Seriously this week was so boring when it comes to missionary work. Not much happened. We sent out a Google sheet to our wards for the members to sign up to meet with us. We put so much work into it and we really felt proud of how it looked. Only one person from the 2 wards we cover signed up and the only reason why he signed up was because we asked him to. That was awesome. We got bashed at the Visitors Center this week. A cute old couple came in and told us that their family had been here earlier and they wanted us to show them around. As soon as we went to the back of the Visitors Center they started bashing us:) Such a fun hour of my life that I will never get back.  There was supposed to be a hurricane coming through Hawaii this week but it never came. Honestly I was kinda excited for the storm.  I have been sharing 2 nephi 26:33 with alot of my friends at the Teaching Center this week. "he inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth non...

Highlights from the week: •my family sent me postcards, I absolutely love getting letters from them:) •I went on my first exchanges as a District Leader and it was so fun! •We went to Costco on P day •We saw the BIGGEST COCKROACH in our house this week! I truly believe that this thing was big enough to eat me! It's still in our house somewhere so if I don't send an email next week you will know why •had a member meal for the first time in forever! Definitely the highlight of my week! •Our friend Paris is LOVING the Book of Mormon. She sent us this text this week, "Hi  Emma  and Ellie! I thought I'd let you both know that I just met with my local missionaries over zoom. We prayed together and they taught me how to pray. We read a passage from 1 Nephi 7:17 and they also told me about the beginnings of the Book of Mormon from 2Nephi 3. After the meeting they asked me to pray to God asking him to show me that what they say is true and I got this overwhelming feeling that t...

4th Of July

Image
I hope everyone had am amazing 4th of July.  People don't really celebrate the 4th here in Hawaii so it wasn't that exciting but we did get to see a couple fireworks and we went to 7 brothers to get burgers to make the day feel a little more special. I just hit 10 months this week. I feel like every email I write I am telling you what month I am at. Sorry about that. It probably sounds so repetitive. I won't bring it up again till I hit a year:) Sister Johnson and I have a shift at the Polynesian Culture Center once a week that I'd outside in the middle of the day for 2½ hours. I love it because I get tan but my poor scalp does not because it gets so burnt every week! And it always heals just in time for it to get burnt again the next week:) If anyone knows of any good sunscreen for your scalp let me know! My friend, Paris, who I met at our online teaching center just received a physical copy of the Book of Mormon this week from her local missionaries and the text she s...

Last Weeks Email

Image
I wrote this email last week and totally forgot to send it... my bad! Enjoy this extra email:) This week felt so long and yet I feel like I just wrote a mass email yesterday.  Not much has happened. Still trying to figure out serving on campus. Hey are making all of our female dorms into FSY housing so we don't have any girls in our wards right now. Makes it hard to do areawork but we are figuring it out. We got to give a tour of the Visitors Center to a friend I was teaching in my last area. She is on date for next month and I am so excited for her:) Zone conference was this week. We talked all about the 2nd edition of PMG and how we can be successful missionaries.  This week I was listening to a talk by President Henry B. Eyring called "The Power of Teaching Doctrine" in his talk he says "Simply hearing the words of doctrine can plant the seed of faith in the heart. And even a tiny seed of faith in Jesus Christ invites the Spirit." Something that I have come t...
