6 Months
I have officially been a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 6 months!
While I was on exchanges this week we were supposed to have a lesson with our friend Patrick and his pastor. I was seriously so scared but his pastor didn't show up. Patrick is very nice, I don't think he is actually that interested but he is a nice guy
We got to go to the Temple this week! We wanted to do Endowments, I haven't been since they changed it, but they didn't have room so we did sealings. This was my first time and it was so cool! The spirit was so strong in the room.
My friend I found at the teaching center hasn't been responding to me or her local missionaries the past 2 weeks, me and her missionaries both decided it was probably time to stop reaching out last week. Yesterday I got a text from them saying they felt like they should send her one more text, so they did and she ended up calling them and they talked about the Plan of Salvation. SUCH A MIRACLE!! Her local missionaries are meeting with her later this week, everyone keep Latoya in your prayers
We have a little girl in our ward named Keilani. She gets baptized later this year and her parents want her to take the lesson. This week we gave them a tour of the Visitors Center and taught her about baptisms for the dead. She also drew us a picture of the Visitors Center and it is so cute!
The first 6 months of my mission were weird cause when I would think about where I would be in a year from then I would still be on my mission. But now, if I think about where I will be 365 days from now I will be home. That is so crazy!
Random miracle! Me and Sister Peterson really wanted 7 brothers for dinner. Then 30 minutes after we decided we would go there we got a text from our members telling us they were going to buy us 7 brothers.
In my personal study I am listening to all of President Nelson's talks. Yesterday I listened to a talk he gave in October 1988 called "With God Nothing Shall be Impossible". In the talk he asked the question, why did God wait so long to restore the gospel? Why didn't he do it sooner? It probably would have been easier. When Joseph Smith restored the church there was 1,143,000,000 people on the earth and there were only 6 members of the church. It seemed like the odds were against him to share the gospel with the rest of the world. But in reality, with God on his side, he could not lose. Matthew 19:26 says "With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible".
I would love to hear what you have been learning about in your own personal study this week:)
