Aloha
On Wednesday my mission president sent out a text to the mission telling us there was a fire west of the temple! Kinda crazy! Everything is all good but it has definitely given me a greater appreciation for the time that I get to serve here.
Highs/Lows from the week:
☆my friend Keith's phone is broken so I can't talk to him:(
☆none of our members ever want to talk to us when we go knock on their doors so during ward coordination we spent a good 30 minutes letting them tell us why people don't want to talk to the missionaries. It was pretty awkward but also led to a good discussion
☆Zone Confrence was this week! We talked about strengthening our relationships with Jesus Christ. They had all of the District Leaders(which means me:)) stand around the room and read The Living Christ then we each shared our testimony of Him
☆We gave a tour at the Visitor Center to a lady from North Carolina. She was really quite and shy but when we told her their was a temple in NC she got very interested. She showed her a picture of what it looked like and turns out it is really close to her home. Her face lit up when she saw how close it was. She is so excited to go see it when she goes home
☆got to talk to lots of my members and share lots of messages - the awkward conversation we had at ward coordination was actually helpful
☆at FHE we played a card game. I LOVE CARD GAMES! I also won so no big deal
☆another cool tour we gave at the Visitors Center this week was to Sara and her parents. Sara is a new member and she brought her parents, who aren't members, in to help them feel the spirit and want to learn more. We spent a good 1½ hours with them and her parents were just not interested. It actually made me so sad, you could see how badly Sara wants to be sealed to her parents. What was cool about this experience though is getting to here Sara bare her testimony so many times. She has only been a member for about 6 months but everytime she testified of Jesus Christ and the house of the Lord the spirit was so strong! I know that her parents are in good hands with her
After talking with Sara and her parents it got me thinking about my own family and the promises my parents made in the temple. It gives me comfort to know that as me and my family are striving to follow the gospel of Jesus Christ, it doesn't matter what hard things come our way, because I know we will still be a family in the next life. President Nelson once said, "In God’s eternal plan, salvation is an individual matter; exaltation is a family matter." I know for me, I want to do all that I can to be with my family forever! Someone once said to me, "heaven won't be heaven without my family there." I totally agree! A question that I have been pondering and I invite you to think about it as well, what things can you change in your life to better align yourself with the promises you made in the temple?
Aloha,
Sister Jensen
