My Weekly Car Troubles

Image
I went on exchanges again this week with my district leader Sister Morse. I absolutely love going on exchanges and I love being able to go into another area for the day. Unfortunately the Sister that drove my car while I was gone left the car door open all night while it was pouring rain. That was super fun to wake up to.  We have spent the rest of the week trying to dry out our car. On the bright side the only seat that got wet was mine...:/ Something that I am absolutely terrible at is memorizing things. Like I am so bad! One of the things we get to do in our mission is give tram tours to tourists from the Polynesian Culture Center to the Visitors Center. I have been working on memorizing the script for SOO LONG and I finally finished memorizing it this week. I am so proud of myself haha.  We almost got a duck to walk into our house My STL was having visa issues and ended up getting sent home. We all went to sat goodbye to her before she left and it was the saddest thin...

I'm Addicted To Sugar

Image
Side effects from not eating sugar: I'm always hungry and never satisfied with what I eat, I'm grumpy all the time, constant headaches, and I am less bloated. Besides the less bloating I do not see the reason for wanting to not eat sugar because this is the worst! On the bright side Kawehi told us that keeping the word of wisdom has been very easy so glad one of us is doing well. We met the sweetest lady on one of our trams. When we got to the temple she came up to me and started asking me different questions about our faith and the temple. She told me that she was Muslim and very happy in her beliefs but loved learning about what other people believe. Our conversation was SO good and we both learned so much from each other:) turns out we both have alot of the same beliefs, especially when it comes to life after death, we just call them something different they they do. I love when I am able to have interactions like this at the Visitors Center where we are both able to learn ...

7 Days Without Breaking A Car!!

Image
I think from now on maybe just assume that if I don't send an email it is because my car broke down.  Last week the fuel pump broke in our new car 2 hours away from Laie so we spent most of our p day waiting for someone to come pick me and my companion up. The Elder that is over cars in my mission actually thinks I am cursed with bad luck when it comes to cars because in the last 9 weeks I have had 3 tire leaks, 1 tire pop, and now the fuel pump broke. We did see miracles that day though, like it broke down at the one spot we would be able to pull over and get off the road and we picked up food on the way home so we had something to eat while we were waiting. So even though I am cursed, God is still looking out for me General Conference was so amazing! We invited the Sisters that live on the other side of the duplex we live in to come over and watch it with us cause we have a TV. We wanted to make it comfortable so we carried there couch over so there was enough seating. It wa...

Big Things Happening In H2!

Image
I am only a week into the new transfer and I am already learning that it is going to be a very busy transfer for Sister Ko and I. We do not have enough hours in the day to get everything we need to done. We were finally able to get in contact with Kawehi! His life has been crazy this past month and he just didn't have time to meet with us but luckily things have slowed down for him and we have been able to meet with him 3 times this week. We also have him back on date for April 29th! In his own words he is ready to get dunked and I am so excited for him! Yesterday we got a call from one of the members in our ward telling us that her daughter wanted to be baptized! Some background for you, this family adopted 4 kid about 8 years ago. All 4 of them took lessons with the missionaries to get baptized but only 3 of them actually went through with it. Robyn, the girl that wants to be baptized, has still been going to church and seminary every week just wasn't ready to commit. But now...

RIP My Favorite Person Ever!

Image
Last week I had full intentions of sending an email but then we popped our tire on the way home from Costco so I spent my whole p day getting our tire replaced. Thank goodness Tyler was there and knew how to replace a tire... he said he worked at the surf shop near by but we think he was actually an angel.  He changed the tire so fast by the time we were back in the car and on the road again we felt like it never even happened. Yesterday I had transfers which meant that I had to say goodbye to my companion cause she was going home. It was the hardest goodbye ever and I am going to miss her so much! I don't know if there will ever be a better companionship in the Laie Hawaii Mission then Sister Jensen and Sister Peterson. We are thee iconic duo! These past couple weeks have been hard when it comes to missionary work in the area. All the people we have been teaching have been pretty unresponsive and we haven't taught a lesson in a while but we are holding out faith for our friend...

6 Months

Image
I have officially been a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 6 months! While I was on exchanges this week we were supposed to have a lesson with our friend Patrick and his pastor. I was seriously so scared but his pastor didn't show up. Patrick is very nice, I don't think he is actually that interested but he is a nice guy We got to go to the Temple this week! We wanted to do Endowments, I haven't been since they changed it, but they didn't have room so we did sealings. This was my first time and it was so cool! The spirit was so strong in the room. My friend I found at the teaching center hasn't been responding to me or her local missionaries the past 2 weeks, me and her missionaries both decided it was probably time to stop reaching out last week. Yesterday I got a text from them saying they felt like they should send her one more text, so they did and she ended up calling them and they talked about the Plan of Salvation. SUCH A MIRA...

Not Much Happened This Week:/

Image
I have been looking through my journal trying to find something to write about this week and I really didn't do anything so here are a couple of pictures from the week: ☆lunch dates ☆uncle William ☆yummy corndogs someone bought us:) ☆the post office "sincerely regrets the damage to my mail" I finally finished the 4 gospels! I love the New Testament and I am so happy that I was able to read it these past couple months but I am so happy to be done and am now able to focus all of my personal study on the Book of Mormon again. The Book of Mormon is just so special and you can feel the spirit so strongly while reading it. In my reading this week I was reading about Limhi and his people and Alma's people. There is a very prevalent theme in the Book of Mormon that when the people are righteous God blesses them and when they are wicked he doesn't. It seems so simple when reading, if only they had the Book of Mormon back then they would see how silly they were. Sorry I don...
